are they not very reliable when u start pushing them??????
i was just thinking a air filter, maybe a chip and to change the exhaust manifolds???
or will it not be worth the £££££££££££££££££££££ :s

ok ive just bought a bmc filter seems to be a good choice of many v6 owners.
where could i get a set of manifolds and d cats from?.can u buy them separate or have u got to get the hole exhaust system.
as for a remap how much money would it be and where is a good place to go?????
There are only a few choices on manifolds and decats. Bespoke (Prospeed or somewhere), Janspeed or Orbisoud(sp).
Std Zorst setup is:
2* Cast iron manifolds
2* Downpipes with cats
1* Collector box with more cats (one cat for each bank)
1* Back box purely for silencing (taking input from each bank seperately)
AFAIK you have to buy whole systems or just back boxes. Diff manufacturers are also often not interchangable on the full systems. You can get many back boxes to fit striaght onto std. For example my Janspeed full system has no cats at all and has no colelctor box at all. Thus my back box would not fit a std system. But to be confusing you can buy Janspeed back boxes to fit std. If you do some searching and speak so some suppliers your'll get some more specifics (inc prices). Remember real gains need a whole system but fitting is quite a big job £££.
RSTuning based in Leeds did my group buy and the thread has some good info. Superchips have done some others on here. Both have had good feedback. But with anything its all subjective and some dispute even supposedly proven figures. Thats off the shelf stuff, or you have to fork out thousands for piggyback ECUs and / or bespoke mapping. I'd suggest off the shelf maps are not for cars with full uprated exhausts as they are tailored to the std system. As soon as you get into such a significant change you need to go bespoke mapping. For example my car is overfuelling at high revs due my full decat system including manifolds.
A quick look on the RSTuning website provides ~£400 price guidelines.
Bolt on stuff is cheaper but with less gains which are sometimes questionable. Serious mods include exhaust de-cats, engine modifications and generally ECU re-mapping or after-market ECU's such as Motec. All serious money ...
Ray and Tim have carried out some serious modifications over and above the bolt on stuff and can probably give you some further ideas and potential costs. A couple of other owners including Mike T and Trw1 have also combined experience with superchargers, turbochargers and nitrous. A recent new member has a supercharged phase 1 and there is a live thread on that at the moment too. Do a search on the user id's etc.
Be mindful that increasing the power can expose weaknesses other areas too such as the clutch and drive-train, which are also expensive things to replace and/or upgrade.
What was the quote in Mad Max ? 'Speed is just a question of money - how fast do you want to go ?' ... Something like that anyway ...
thanks lads.
i think i myt invest in a good exhaust system and leave it at that, the owner before has put a k-tec back box on the car sounds good but thats about it.i got a bmc filter havent fitted it yet but im hoping to get it on weekend.
ive been messing about with 5 turbos for about 8 years and got to the stage where it is so hard to keep it on the road with thinks breaking all the time.with pushing the engine to the max
i run omex on the gt turbo and it has helped alot on reliabilty but was very expensive.had to make a hole wiring loom as the 5 is a carb standard
always wanted a vee to blast about in and finally got 1.yeah.
just wanted to spend a bit on it but keep it reliable as poss, so i can keep it as a everyday car and dont worry about it going bang like the 5.
rg motorsport i think it was. i called him and he advised to change the gearbox to the 255.makes the car accelerate alot better.does it make much differance? any one else done it?
Scott @ SGMotorsport (who does the majority of work on mine and tim's cars) www.renaultcliov6.com
or
Alex @ www.carlton-exmouth.com (recommended, has worked on mine and many other cars on here)
Scott supplied me with all the necessary parts(gaskets/breather pipes/new throttle body/injectors etc) for the phase 1 to phase 2 plenum/throttle conversion. Still all boxed up as never had a chance to fit them and get it mapped.
If anyone is interested let me know.
Hi, could anyone tell me a rough figure Id be looking at for 2 performance exhaust manifolds and downpipes without cats? I have my exhaust system with decat ready to fit, but I want to see if its realistically possible for me atm to get the manifolds etc as Id like to get the whole lot fitted before getting a remap and dont want to fit the current system without a remap and suffer fueling problems.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Ant
btw sorry for resurrecting a fairly old thread
I remember already reading it somewhere, but cant find it now so could someone tell me what needs to be changed to fit a phase 2 inlet manifold to a phase 1 engine please?
Thanks
