u r right colin its one of them and if I am honest I have now created a car I am worried to drive not only because of stone chips but in case it rains so I have to watch the weather carefully and that is stupid really, I thought about exporting it to the UEA but then the dust so I cant win ! If I drive it its impossible to keep it 100 percent perfect even if I only do a handful of miles, in hindsight I never realised what a nightmare job it would be but its done now, I will use it as I have to otherwise there is no point but might leave the mirrors at home !!
Make sure you check the forecast before venturing out, clean and dry storage when returning to garage and invest in a dehumidifier too :approve: should be fine. Enjoy it though! :race:
The brake calipers were something I was torn to do, the orignal calipers were pritty good but not mint, I figured that if renault really thought about it they would have painted them as standrad so I went for it. I then got the o no its non standard, so brought some new rear calipers and I can always put them on if I need as I am still not sure painting them was the right move.
I have mine in off the road at the moment due to work and family commitments', so in the mean time I'm just keeping all the out of sight bits neat and tidy. I do use my car (sometimes) so it will need doing again in 9 more years.
It is not costing me much, £250 worth of electroplating and paint, and gives me a project. The car will be much better for it.
Nice work, but its a hell of a job as once you start there is no stopping, one bit leads to another. It will b a job u r not sure if starting was a good idea, but all done its quite rewarding. You doin the right thing getting them replated as nuts and screws I brought from Renault were in a worse state than some that came off the car. so ended up getting brand new ones re done. And u always forget one bolt and talking one bolt to get plated makes them cross !
the problem i got now is I don't want to get it dirty !
