My new hand controls

For anyone interested my Vee has new hand controls fitted. Much neater than the last ones and fitted better too. The previous ones very fitted my a bunch of monkeys that damaged trim, dented the bonnet and offered a couldn't give a sh*t attitude.

The car is now in better condition than its been in for years. Ive replaced the thumb grips on the steering wheel (damaged by the monkeys) replaced the air bag (scratched by getting the wheelchair in & out years ago). Replaced the hand brake lever with a 182 lever- so now has the silver release button (again scratched with the wheelchair). New under bonnet sound pad (eaten by mouses). New dash top (eaten by more mouses) and modified the lower steering cowl to fit around the brake lever (under the ignition key slot). Repaired the horn wiring behind the air bag (chopped up my the monkeys). Repainted the gear knob & gater surround (once more damaged by the wheelchair)

I now drive by squeezing the big ring behind the steering wheel up to accelerate, push the lever down to brake and the clutch is controlled by a small button fitted in the front of the gear knob.

Its also has a nice new splitter (thanks Russo aka Phil)

One more job is to adjust the fitment of the exhaust where it sometimes touches the rear bumper... oh and super Dawn promises for it to have a full Magpie detailing.

Mint, never see this done to any car let alone a vee, nice.
Hey Simon, its normally much easier to adapt an auto transmission car (my everyday car is an auto BMW) but manual transmission cars can be done as you can see. its a bit fiddley to drive being that every thing has to be done with my hands, accelerate, brake, use the clutch, change gear, steer, indicate, wipers, use the radio... all at the same time can be a challenge!
I also see you are in Cornwall, where a bouts? Im originally a Penzance boy and went to school in St ives.

That really does sound like a callenge!! :race:

that looks a great neat instalation...

it sounds very confusing using your hands for all controls, all in a car that commands respect in standard form

nice work mate! :approve:

That does look a neat install job Ian :approve:
Does it make the vee any easier to drive compared to the last set-up???

Think we also got the splitter right to match the plastic of the grills, looks great ( even if I say so myself ) ;)

That is a very neat installation indeed......

Is the lever just beneth the steering wheel used as the brake (pedal)?

Interesting Ian. So guess you would need to modulate the pressure in the same way one would when they are using their feet. Must be quite hectic/frantic if you are making brisk progress on twisty roads, especially if you need to change gear at the same time as applying the brakes (hard), and of course steer as well [smilie=icon_eek.gif]. Do you ever drive it in anger?
