My First Clio Gtt Project

This is my previous clio gtt thread. I wrote this on a forum a few years back lol

Well this is my first car ...i baught it like this about 10yrs ago-

i then lowered it 60mm and used pams mk1 clio's black bonnet as my bonnet was fooked lol -

them big wheels kept catching my arches ..so used pams old clio's wheels ..it then looked like this on 14's also added laguna splitter-

Then a shitty wheel refurb -

It resulted in looking like this -

THEN heres the good bits ..i got bored of my 1.2 engine ..so decided on a engine conversion lol the renault 5 gt turbo engine. ...but first stripped the front end down to find some rust ... So i asked mick nicely to come round and weld a new inner wing on ..cheers man! -

I then got the engine out ( i didnt get pics of this lol ) but i then cleaned up the subframe and gave it a paint of black -

I then painted the bay black -

I then built up the gtt engine onto the subframe in my garden -

I then got two of my good mates to lift the engine into the car ...thanks iain and reco -

Turns out it was all wrong ..not bad from looking at pics tho LOL

I then took it to FCS last year ...turbo blew itself ...timing chain cover was pissing oil everwhere ..nightmare of a weekend.
Soo ..reco decided we got use of the garage he used to work in with ramps ...we got the engine out again ...and sorted all possible oil leaks! -

I then changed some stuff and tidied it up a bit -

I also stripped it out for the conversion inside (two front seats were added obviously lol)

I then got talking to a dude on rtoc who knows his shizz ..over msn he told me how to tidy it up even more ..here it is with a brand new hybrid turbo from turbo technics -

I then got the 16v front end (bonnet yet to be fitted) and fitted that ...also baught williams wheels ..here is how it currently looks -

I then started tarting up the engine bay with some blooo -

Had a half cage fitted and battery box -

Its had a full respray ..paint reacted ...its getting sorted soon ..but its all silver now
I will post some pics of it from the french car show




I then got it RR'd Down there -

Not bad eh! ..for a hybrid t2 turbo on standard boost,FMIC and straight through exhaust - 1bar boost next ..expecting 170bhp
I then had problems with this engine and it just didnt run right ...so i had a hernia operation ..stored the car over the winter..and ..this is what happened next!
A new engine ...with an estimated 220bhp ...did a 12.6@108mph at pod in a renault 5.
And a new 2.5" exhaust all the way from the turbo to the back from simons exhaust ...sounds awesome!
I recently blew the new turbo ...damn cheapy air filter had a hole in it ..sucked in a stone ..destroyed the comp wheel and oil seals. I also think ive done in the piston rings as its breathing real heavy in the breather system

In that pic above its had new rings and we added a new gt28rs with raceland manifold with external and screamer.

This Car is now on its way to the scrapyard in the sky!
The car is rotten so i have baught a reshell for the engine(pic below)..which is already c1j'd

Nice one, built 2 of these back in the day great fun and an easy conversion to get in and running. Looks good keep it up
