Mk1's with Mk2 rear subframes

Hope it isnt a daft question, when i bought my V the previous owner said that it has a Mk2 rear subframe (I think that Scott at SG backed this up when my mam spoke to him) Would it be standard on a late numbered Mk1 V? or as it been added?

So there isnt anything documented with chassis No's? if there was a change over?

Possibly, but I seriously doubt it knowing Renault. There are far more knowledgeable folk on here than myself Aimy, so if I were you, I sit tight and see if one of them answers your questions far better than I have.. lol.

i think a number of the later mk1s had mk2 subframes and gearboxes. some people have also changed them over themselves too.

Interesting this one. Keep us posted.

By "late numbered" mk 1 do you mean VIN number?

All the 4 digit cars in our register are UK imports which are known to be much higher numbers like 1441.

Yes i was meaning VIN numbers, it was a just out of interest question which i dont suppose will ever be confirmed 100% :s

I would like to think that if some late mk1s did have a mk2 chassis fitted, they would also have everything else involved. Of course that is only if all the mk2 bits were produced when your vee was being built.

Some sort of record must be available like a build sheet or similar I would have thought? Ask Scotty if when looking for a new chassis on the parts system, if it demands a VIN number is given to order the correct one for yours.

Your quite right about the "ever be confirmed" statement Aimy. There does seem to be a lot of mystery around Vees, and only time will unravel these anomalies I suspect.

A very simple "Does it look like this or that drawing?" would be good to learn for our future records.

look at the ovel plate number, give this to renault and ask them to pull up the part code for a replacment subframe. Then get the ovel of an older Mk1 and run that one in to the renault system and see if the part codes match and try a Mk2 to see what that code is.

From my experiance the renault information is quite acurate, dont go off the images they show though just the part codes.
