MK1 side pod vs MK2

I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a slight difference between the two, could anyone confirm for fact if there is.

yep!

they are different widths (ph2 stick out of the car further) and slightly shape (mostly internally), have different grilles on them. I understand that either pods would fit either car.
