Oh dear........it seems it's missing, previous owner is on the case but no joy so far. So where do I go from here, will any Clio locking wheel nut do the job??? Been told I could break em off!!! Not really wanting to do this but the wheels need to come off for calliper refurb, wheel refurb and 2 new back tyres as the ones that are on are shite!!!! Any help I would appreciate my vee 6 buddies!!!

I seem to recall someone telling me once that all Vee locking nuts are the same, not sure myself - but might be worth a look.

On mine the leaflet says "Keep the label with key code in a safe place". Don't seem to have anything other than the Renault part number on the case.

Details from Renault parts ordering:

W/NUT LCKNG HD19M
Part number : 7711221177

Total protection against the theft of wheels and tyres. Very high level of security with a rotary ring rendering the bolt resistant to attack. Very high resistance to torsion and armour plating against any attempted theft. Material: high resistance steel, cut-proof. Only the owner's key supplied with the bolts can open the anti-theft system. Tested and approved by the British Institute Thatcham "in accordance with the Renault criteria and specifications. Reduction in insurance costs."

I think the Renault locking bolts are made by McGard aren't they? so it could be worth contacting them if all else fails.

Also have you done a thorough search in the jack box in the boot and the box under the driver's seat?

What box under drivers seat?? There is a 6 disc mutichanger and x2cans of puncture repair. But don't recall another box?? Tried the toolkit in box but not in there either... Box under drivers seat, hmmm am I missing something here?

Hi James..unfortunately there is no tray under passenger seat...searched hi and low for it through the car and really cant think of anywhere else now...previous owner still not got back to me yet either....glovebox, ashtray, door cards, under both seats, boot and tool kit. Rear compartment behind the seats also.....pissed off now as i need them off this weekend before i went on holiday....Gutted....Anyone from south wales area be able to help me out?? i will drive and meet ya???? Buy ya a cheeky wee beer also??? :D

Might be worth phoning a Renault dealer and asking if they have a skelton key for this sort of thing (which must happen quite often)

Hi, yep I meant the puncture kit box.

I think each key is different, but i'm sure that the code for a replacement must be stored in the Renault system under the VIN for such circumstances.

Best of luck.

If all else fails, whack the next smaller socket on and get the wheels off but this would probably f**k the bolts up.Then go and get a new set and have both locking wheel nuts.

Have you checked the floor apertures inside the rear boot just above the rear bumper, there are 2 holes between the carpet and bodywork?

I lost mine when i first bought the car, therefore stripped the boot carpet and all plastic out and guess what, i didn't find the one, i found 2 wheel nut keys!!!!

Snap on do a reverse thread socket that tightens on the nut as you undo it with an air wrench or simliar. Was used on my Gti 16v years ago and worked a treat.

Jesus!!!! Cant believe this, well after a couple of more visits to local garages and even a trip down to see Renault cardiff ( who suggested to book it in so that they could drill them out??). I stumbles on a small garage inside Abergavenny which was literarly 2 mins up the road...Asked them nicely if they could help me out and within around 5 mins the young lad Sam had em all off with a socket, wrench and mallet!!!! Never even marked the Rims!! So big thanks to them, however what is the bloody point on this anti theft nut which comes off all too very easily. No special tools, keys, drilling or sending off for a new code....Biggest load of bollocks i have came across in ages...If someone wants your wheels they could have them easily with no issues what so ever...Any hoo thanks for all your help guys much appreciated!! :D
