I suppose its good in a way that at least part of automotive history is being saved though. No one is going to scrap a Mk1 or 2 no matter what kind of state its in because they are worth so much. People buy them up to restore and then look after them or punt them on for 3 times the price they bought them for!

There was a story not too long ago in a car mag (cant remember which one now) about people buying up poverty spec Mk1's and making them look like and then selling them as Mexicos and RS2000s which might explain part of why even the crap ones prices are high.
