Michelin Sport 3 or Super Sport

Not much difference between the 2 but wondering if it is necessary to have the super sports. I don't drive the car like a maniac and rarely in the wet.

Thanks for feedback

Phil

Not necessary at all mate, lots of owners have non pilots on their vees, there are many threads on different tyres if you search for them :approve:

Just wondering as the difference would only be £40 for the rears in total. I am happy to spend that money but if it is way too capable for the Vee and not worth it I will stick with the Pilot Sports 3. Currently got Falken's on there and they were ok but I cant help feeling they have less grip than the Michelins and they only lasted 6000 miles.

Ive just put Super sports on today and will give feedback after a good drive it had yokohama advan sport which were ace in the wet and dry!

Thanks Andrew. That would be great to get your feedback. Have the MOT tomorrow and know that they will be advisory so they will need to be changed in the coming weeks.

the Pilot Sport 3 doesn't replace the Pilot Sport 2 as Michelins flagship max performance tyre, it replaces the Pilot Exalto PE2 which is "just" a normal performance summer tyre.

Michelin's in-house testing, performed at the Michelin Technology Center, helped identify six key areas in which the Michelin Pilot Super Sport outperforms its predecessor, the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2:

* Road-holding on dry surfaces: Tests showed a 1.5-second gain on a 2,700-meter closed-circuit track.
* Braking on dry surfaces: When decelerating from 100 km/h to a full stop, braking distance was shortened by 1.5 meters.
* Road-holding on wet surfaces: Time was reduced by 2.5 seconds on a 4,100-meter closed-circuit track.
* Braking on wet roads: When decelerating from 80 to 10 km/h, braking distance was shortened by 3 meters.
* Total mileage on the track: 50% more laps.
* Total mileage on the road: 10% greater distance.

Looks like supersport replaced ps2. And ps3 where just for more comfort ride, a step back towards more 'normal' road tyres. .

Cheers Nas. Think that has just confirmed my gut feeling. Super sports it is. Best price i have found so far is £175 each not fitted. Not too bad as i am sure I paid about £250 each last time round. :)

I just paid £173 (if ordered 5days before would of saved me £15) delivered from camskill and if you do it soon you can get a £50 fuel card.

Goes up week by week. It was 590 total all round a couple of months ago. I was going to buy them but as the price rose I decided not to. Will wait til next winter when the prices drop again. Got loads of tread on my falkens so will wait.

Awesome tyre, have them on the M3.

You got a white shirt and Bluetooth earpiece as well? :troll:

Why would i have an earpiece, the M has bluetooth in-built!

How is your FAKE M brand 135i these days? ;)

Just got 2 front Supersports for £150 fitted each which I don't think was too bad. Cost of moving house meant I missed the fuel card offer :violin:
