Low Idle

Woody

New Member
Hello all,

Out driving around Norfolk today and popped the old Air Con on. Trouble is the idle is at 450rpm and stalls at junctions with the ac on. Anyone know how to adjust the idle rpm?

Cheers in advance.

There is a valve that controls ithe idl called iac, idle air control, its just under the throttle body, mounted somewere near and connecter via the black convoluted hose, either its stuck or screwed, clean out with carb cleaner and clean the throttle body inners as well, gets clagged up with oily shit and the valve cannot cope with it , or of course the electrical conn has come off, then there would be an idiot light on. if that dont work get it scanned , it should show iac faulty on scan, if you need any more info p.m. me.

Thanks Spike. Sorry didn't reply the other night as I fell asleep! lol

When my location dictates I'll follow your advice. I've limited tools with me at the mo and I need the car Thursday for a funeral in Doncaster, so I don't want to break it!

I'll keep you posted.

PS, as a quick fix, would spray carb cleaner aid it?
