losing water

driving in heavy traffic on friday noticed the temp rising until the STOP light came on, anyway stopped car for 5 mins then drove off and as soon as the car was out of traffic the temp shot back to normal,got home checked the water lever and it had dropped below the min mark, so i filled it up to max, anyway next day driving to work and everything is fine car is running smooth and temp lever is normal but got home checked the water level and once again it had dropped below min..

anway got the car booked in for friday and he said its prop either a leak somewhere or the head gasket...

does this sound about right or could it be something else? anyone else had a simular problem? been looking trough the search on here and cant really find anyone who has had a head gasket go.

I only know of one head gasket going.

Will be a hose or clip needs tightening.

Hose could have chaffed.

not some thing i looked into but they had to replace my timing belt too...

ok so it turns out its the water pump,also needs to replace the cam belt,big job but should be done by wed...
