Losing the will to live. New key saga.

3 months ago I ordered a new key and fob from Renault for my ph1, after my 4th trip there and prob 10th call I'm still no closer to getting it.

They have had several blades sent that don't fit which is the least of my worries, they can't seem to grasp the fact it has a separate fob, they won't accept it comes with it and keep getting the blade and fob combined ones.

Today after another visit they said they would try and order the fob although they weren't sure what would arrive as there was no pictures, they then handed me the number of a private key coding bloke who they wanted me to get to try and code it as they said they probably wouldn't be able too.
I gave the no back and told them I wanted them to get me a working key and fob for the £180 I paid them all those weeks ago.

I can't say too much as it's all above my head.

When looking up the part you are asked :

With injection cut off YES or NO

I wonder if NO would be correct option as the Phase 1 has a red fuel cut off button under the bonnet?

I got a second set for mine. You need a key and a separate fob as the key is clio and alarm/immobiliser laguna. I can did out paperwork if any use.

When my alarm decided to play up a couple of years ago I had to take the car to my local Renault dealer, they sorted the issue and I got a new key fob as part of the fix. I have just dug the invoice out and here are the part numbers, description and prices I found:

8200008229 PLIP BODY C3 £19.12
7700312059 BLANK PLIP £81.49
7701387010 PLIP BLADE £14.23

Coding the key was then an additional £61.40

Now I can't be sure that this is the information you need but I figure it may help you so I thought I would share it just in case it does, best of luck.

That's all great help thank you, I'm just bewildered how they can ask me to come in and mess up so many times and still be no closer.

I'm just lucky it's a spare and not needed to get me out of trouble.

Where about's are you in the country? If you are in the south east I know an ex-Renault garage who sort a lot of keys that dealers can't seem to get right...

Toomey Basildon is my local main dealer.

Hi.
I had the same problem and Wills answer helped me. The key blade part number didn't work but that wasn't the problem.
I work at a Renault dealer in Sweden and the reason this is so hard to solve is that The Renault parts system has replaced the old key with one that doesn't work with the remote lock system. The locking system seems to be the same as Kangoo I and Master II.

Thanks For your help Will.

Daniel

Thanks Daniel and Will. I'm hoping to hear from my my dealer tomorrow but I won't hold my breath.

At least I have some info to pass on now.

Glad to be of assistance :).

So today I went back for another attempt as they now had a selection of fobs to try.

After 2 hours of trying (the tech guy was doing his best) I have a key that will open the door and start the car but no fob that will do the central locking.

And they still charged me £110. I'm a bit pissed off tbh.

I need to ring them up today to get refunded £70 but I think I may tell them it's not needed and I will try elsewhere. After all this time and all my afternoons off work I think they should of made a bit of a goodwill gesture.

Give Scott a ring at SG motors ports ! He got a second set for my old phase 1 2 years ago ! He struggled with first set but he sorted it in the end - he will have the part numbers you require :) the only thing he couldn't get was the blank that fills the blip as it is designed to take a key ;)

I may well have to do that thanks Craigy990, I have just got to fight for a refund now as they are refusing to give it to me in full if I return the key.
They are blaming me for suggesting part No's and saying its a problem with my car, they have even said that as their technicians have worked for several hours trying to code the keys I should pay more.

I'm actually in shock at how poorly I've been treated by them.

I'm going there after work with my card and the key and I will get a full refund one way or another.

Crikey, sorry to hear about the way you have been messed about.

If they don't refund your card, may be write to your card provider (assuming that it is a credit card) stating that the goods and services provided were not fit for purpose (Sale of Goods Act 1979).

Wow that's poo !! They shouldn't have taken it on if they were unsure !! Surely you are entitled to a refund if it's there stupidity and lack of knowledge! The coding won't work if it the wrong fob ! Tell THEM to ring Scott at SGMOTORSPORTS! And mention he knows what he is doing !! ;)

They demanded I be there before closing today with the key if I wanted a refund but as I'm 350 miles away it's impossible.
I have had to just take the £70 part refund over the phone and keep the key.

Terrible terrible service and attitude and it'll be the last time I use them.

Jesus ! Ring Scott bud ! I obviously gave my receipts away with my car so I can't give you details of the key Scott sorted for me - as I say it took Scott a couple of attempts with Renault but we got there !! He will have my old invoice on file - my reG no was V666 CUO or just tell Scott it was Craig from Chippenham phase one that he got replacement key and fob when I bought it in - he will no and my invoice will have the FINAL part numbers on it :-) my old phase 1 was a 52 plate I think ? (Wish I still had it [smilie=icon_cry.gif] ) anyway - Scott can sort you out !! he is after all " THE ORICAL OF THE V6 CLIO "
