I think I have gone off silver and would prefer a red or blue mk1, Im prepared to wait now!
Ian Im surprised you wasted your time with that Eddie Wan* clio-

Im not sure if you had privvy to viewing the same pics now up on the site but come on-
http://www.eddiewright.co.uk/Renault-Clio/26885.html
The car is a pile of sh ite in the pictures- Its dirty & looks un cared for- If a vendor can advertise it in that standard- thats the quality of sale you will get-
The car is a bucket of nails & will stay that way until they drop the price by a large amount-

I was informed it had just been taken in and quickly had photos taken. All I want to make sure is that no one else wstes their time going to see it. Lesson learned :(

Some of my thoughts as usual LOL ...

Motor dealers obviously seem to have different ways of dealing with car sales ...

Some fettle the cars, sort all the issues out and make them presentable before offering them for sale - possibly at a premium price ... This is probably more common at main dealers, specialist or reputable dealers who rely on customer service and who have a narrorer range of cars ... In these cases you probably get the best feel for a car and don't they always look shiny :-) ...

Some seem to offer cars for sale with little or no work done and expect the buyer to pick up on things which need doing and perhaps fall into the trap of not knowing what to look for. This can be the case for specialist cars where the dealer has no knowledge or the repairs may be expensive or where the car has come in at a high trade in price and the margins are tight ... These situations can be tricky if the buyer doesn't know what he is looking for or the car is a bit of a dog. Warranties on these cars becomes quite critical ... You can sometimes get a bargain if you know what to look for and costs to put things right but you can also get a 'pig-n-a-poke' ... I guess you have to beware of shiny example of these cars so we are thankful of them often not being presented in a valeted form ...

There of course is the in-between ...

And I guess finally the 'trade-in' scenario which usually fits into a 'sold as seen' take it as it is at a cheaper price situation, but I have only ever seen 1 Vee in that category and it still wasn't cheap and it has been on this forum ... I wonder where it is now ???

I guess with any purchase especially cars and in our cases Vees you have to get your ducks in a row and do the research into reliability and what goes wrong to know what you are looking for and be prepared to walk away - as you did Iain.

haha I wish I found this thread before I went 2-3 weeks ago, sorry for the bump by the way.

He span me a line about how a kid came down from Scotland, purchased it but could not get insured on it... I found that a little odd myself.

I found countless faults with the car to be fair, dints in every metal panel... overspray on the front bumper as you said, list goes on...

I am still on the hunt, looks like you have found your vee now, gutted I want a red one :P

I can't remember his name, but he had black hair if that helps lol

There was also a person who viewed it who 'failed on finance', obviousley my first intention was to ask how many people had viewed it when I arrived. :)

Hi m8, I'm not sure if it interests you but my Mk1 Blue V6 may be for sale soon :(

We've just had the 12 week scan and there's no denying that the wife's pregenant [smilie=bunny_4.gif]

With a Reno 5 and V6 both with 2 seats it looks like I might finally have to grow up and buy a family car [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I've been trying to put it off as long as possible and so haven't advertised it yet but I can give you more details if required.

Ashy.

no probs m8 :)

I'm going to try and keep it as long as possible anyway, the baby can travell in the bin under the bonnet until its about 2yrs old?

Ashy how much are you looking for it?
