KW Coilovers Ordered!

Woody

New Member
Been meaning to do it for a while; to true-up the 4 corners on our Vee. After its serious accident all those years ago, the cambers have never been right, with tyres lasting 6 months at best [smilie=icon_eek.gif]
So now's the time to put it to bed for good. They are on speacial order from K-Tek and hopefully should arrive and be fitted before the Lakes meet :approve:

Cool! Not on my radar (YET) but do look like nice bits of kit. Will be interesting to read your opinion on the improvement!

Ben

has anyone already fitted these? I'd be interested to know how they feel. Suspension is something on the shopping list for the future. I was going to go down the Ohlins route but cost will be a key factor and something that won't be happening soon.

Are these difficult to set up on a Vee? Most buyers guides claim that the suspension and geometry is very sensitive, and as such even a lightly kerbed wheel should set alarm bells ringing.

No idea Paul, I just hope and trust the guys fitting them will set it all up for me ;)

Paul valid point you made.. However the kw set up imo transforms the car for the better. I own a ph1 with a bit more power than normal shall we say and the kws plus uprated arbs all round have made the car far more benign....

Would be worth getting a drive in a modified one if you can to feel the difference...

Tim

Tim, not just is the added bonus of an improved footing, I'm scrubbing 3 tyres every 6 months, so it needs sorting!

Great idea fitting the KW's Woody, but I am a little confused on how it will solve your current problems with alignment. The only additional adjustment you will have over the original setup will be the ride height which inturn will allow you to corner weight the car much more delicatly. The OEM dampers are camber adjustable alround if its thats the issue??

Also the damping and rebound!

Yes well thats obviouse but plays no part in geometry/tyre wear. I

Yeah but not in the same way a wheel kicking out would Ali, lets be bloody honest! I'm just trying to point out that the standard set up can be played with to true everything up . . . . . . . sorry if thats being negative fella :approve:

Without adding various bits and pieces, the Ph1 rear has no camber adjustment, only toe-in & toe-out adjustment. KW'S have eccentric bolts on each corner, so adjusted correctly they can only help.

They do Woody honestly. Its a pig to do but it is doable fella. Anyone who see the left hand rear of my car earlier on in the year would have seen near on positive camber. With adjustment both sides are now sitting at around 1.65* neg if I remember correctly.
