went to get in the vee earlier and the keyfob button sunk in much further than usual and wouldnt unlock the car.

i opened it up to see that the little button bit on the circuit board has detached itself:

can i solder it back on or is it off to renault for a new one? im guessing that will be a few hundred and a few weeks wait as always [smilie=badpc.gif]

to rub salt in the wounds i went to get spare one and exactly the same thing has happend to that....so i cant even drive it to the garage.

also when you put the key in the door lock and unlock it, it appears to only pop the lock, not disarm the alarm. is that normal? i didnt want to risk opening the door and setting it off when i cant stop it, so locked it back up and walked away.

Hi Duncan,
Exactly the same thing happened to one of my fobs a few months ago!

I thought the battery had gone on it first of all but when my dad took it apart the button had come off.
He soldered it back on very carefully with a small gun and it's as good as new....

If you've got a steady hand I would give it a go! Definately quicker and cheaper than a new one from Renaults!

glad to know its not just me!! haha

thanks lucy, nice to know it can work and its worth a try fixing!!!

No it's not just you! I can't believe you had them both go at the same time though - that's bad luck!!

When mine went it wouldn't disable the alarm either. I opened the door and set alarm off a couple of times but it does stop itself after a little while!
