Just When You Thought Life Couldn't Get Any Better

do a search for gearbox on here, few people had, issues with gearbox more so little circlips comming undone as ya said....( quoted as an o ring on the search)
 
I have a feeling it may be your circlips, this happened four times to my cup every time at a set of traffic lights, dip the clutch all seems well no strange noises then push it into gear all seems well then press the acellerator and fuck all but an overeving engine.

Its an easy fix and very common.
 
I also had a slightly different issue with low fluid in the clutch/brake fluid reservoir - it made engaging and disengaging difficult to the point where I could not get the car in gear.

Sounds exactly wot mine did when the diff went after 5k.

Was a new gearbox jobbie.

Good luck tho and hope its nothing to serious.

did it just all of a sudden go, and has it happened since bcos she's getting threatened now that if she don't behave and work correctly she'll be getting sold and i'll be buying an EVO
 
Yeah mine went with a small bang/clunk,just like when it pops out of gear. Was very unexpected, no build up or anything.

Had this diagnosed yet?

If not, put the car in gear and press the accelerator, if speedo registers a speed then it's the circlip.
 
if they do replace the gearbox at the main dealers under warrenty (which happened to me) make sure the set the rear end up ,tracking ect.. when they done mine they didnt and after i got it back a brand new set of rear sports went bald in 1 week. turn out the rear end was WAY out. when we showed wot they had done wrong with the car up on the ramp they didnt even relise. so make sure you tell them. the funniest thing the renault garage didnt even have tracking gear any way. lucky my dads got a garage and all the tracking gear we set it up ourselfs, its perfect now. o yeah we got renault to get to new tires for us due to there mistake.
