Janspeed

Is the Janspeed backbox any good? It seems to be a fair bit cheaper than a Q/S. Any opinions greatly appreciated.

if it s just a back box your after then there all of a muchness so i would go cheapest if your after performance get one made you get the noise for free then

I had a full Janspeed with sport cats fitted to mine earlier in the year, very happy with it!

Its plenty quiet enough for town driving and motorway cruising.. but when the peddle is down it sounds awesome 'apparently' lol When I had the QS on the other car, it did drone alot inside the cabin.. something the Janspeed doesnt do.

I bought it to shed a bit of weight from the rear end, and didnt want to spend the money for a specialist, made to order only system. Janspeed have been making systems for decades and were able to modify the back box i had to suit my requirements. Great service!!

i am interested in a full system to get rid of those lovely manifolds, is the janspeed fitted with 2 cats or four, is it stainless throughout, does it light the dash up and what is the weight difference?

Sorry Spike, cant answer any of the tech questions, as i bought it off Bill Patchall, though i think its S/S with 2 cats. The light on the dash does come on after a few hundred miles, depending on how its driven

I paid very good mates rates for it, and then had it modified by Janspeed as I didnt like the tips on the back box. That cost me £100, including a drink. :approve:

I have a Janspeed back box and its great - not boomy at all round town but put your foot down and its fantastic sound, some pops and crackles on overrun as well

Luckily for me Hong Kong has loads of tunnels as well!

Don't think the Janspeed back box fits a phase 2 unless you have the Janspeed manifolds.

Ordered my rear box from janspeed this week with the rolled pipes. Should take a couple of weeks before i have it so i am hoping for good weather so i get to hear it pop and gurgle.

Janspeed has just 2 cats, 1 per bank. It is s/steel throughout or it used to be. It will light the dash light. No idea on weight but removing the collector box complete, and losing the cast iron manifolds must cut back on weight a fair bit.

Recommended.

No idea on prices these days. I got mine 2nd hand years ago.

As i said in another post, why, if its got cats does it put the light on? are the cats inferior quality or does the system only use two of the four lambdas, someone must know the answer to this.
