Hey

Just spoken to a guy at Janspeed to get a price on the de-cat manifolds that they do for the Vee.

He told me that the Janspeed manifolds are compatible with the standard system which would mean that the Janspeed cat back is effectively compatible with the standard manifolds?

That isnt how I understood it to be?

I thought the Janspeed exhaust was an all or nothing type of job?

I would like to believe him but unfortunately sometimes people can be wrong about there own product..

Anyone any info on this one??

Thanks

Jonny

The Decat manifold may be interchangeable but the rest isn't. The back box / down pipes are bespoke. Also the sports cats on the Janspeed are on the manifold, unlike the std system where they are on the dowpipe (and in the collector box).

Also the term cat back is mis-leading on Vee's. There are 2 sets of cats. One set in the pipes from the manifolds to the collector box (downpipe?) and one set in the collector box. So cat back would be just the back box. That is NOT interchangable Janspeed - Standard.

I know all this for sure as a full std system (inc manifolds) i currently on my work-bench at home. ;)

Yeah thats how I understood it too..

Thanks, think ill be leaving that then!

So annoying tho stuff like this when people miss-lead you!

No excuses IMO! They should know their own stuff![smilie=evil.gif]

I have the full janspeed system with sports cats and my mate bought just the janspeed back box for his vee. Both exhausts were identical except for mine having manifolds and the extra manifold to back box link pipes(the pipe that runs under the engine). We both had them fitted and with no trouble. The backbox mated up to the standard manifold link pipes no problem.
That was over a year ago so maybe they have changed the system now.
I think the janspeed system is actually a smaller bore than the original.

Janspeed used to do a separate box only I believe.
The latest full systems, Cat or Decat aren't interchangeable in any way with standard systems Mk1 or Mk2.
Yes the bore is smaller.
