Janspeed de cat pipes.

Does anyone have these fitted and are they to replace the collecter box. Also can you just fit these and a back box or is it best to replace the whole system.thanks paul.

I think the janspeed decats replace the downpipes and also the collector IF you have the janspeed backbox (ie full system)

Could I just remove the collector box and replace with straight through pipes ,I sure most people think this is the biggest problem with the standard set up and then would it still pass a mot ?

I'm currently getting a set of pipes made up with a link pipe so they will be balanced. If this setup works and runs ok then I will sell them on :)

Yes. Collector delete is the most cost effective yet still MOT friendly way to get more noise with the occasional pop and bang. Remember to factor in a link pipe to the set-up though.

Thanks Jon,is there a collector replacement you can just buy or do you need to get someone to make something up and what do you mean by link pipe .sorry for all the questions just want to know exactly what I need to do and get so I get it right first time .also do you think it will work ok with my quicksilver sport back box ,cheers paul :approve:

That's going to be pretty much the same set up as Oli will have once he's sorted the new Collector "delete" pipework...............should be good.

Nothing off the shelf unfortunately, though the 'straight-pipe' pipework should be relatively straightforward to create (fitment/dimensions may be different between ph1 ph2). The flanges mating the downpipes to the collector input pipes will need to be chopped off and reused or (more hassle) replicas fabricated.

A link pipe replaces the functionality of the disposed collector gubbins. It connects the two straight pipes together and equalises the pressure that the two banks of the 'V' create. Without a pressure vent the back pressure could build potentially leading to detonation (incorrect AFR) or misfire. Neither outcome is great!!
