I've been looking for 4 years

and finally found my Vee! It absolutely needed to be one of the few acid yellow ones, that is why it took me 4 years to find it.

I am a dutchman living in Germany (no, that really isn't too bad) for more than 40 years, heavily infected by the Renault and Alpine virus. Since I first saw the acid yellow V6's on pics in 2003 I knew I would be heading for that wonderful funky car some day. In 2009 a Renault dealer offered a low mileage car for quite a lot of Euros, by far too much for me. It was one of only two acid yellow Vee's that found their way to Germany. The car was offered for sale for something like 6 months and then finally found a new owner. This guy exported the car to a non-EC country and finally offered it for sale again this year. I managed to purchase it 8 weeks ago (never seen an acid yellow one in reality before!) and brought it back to Germany. So now I am the proud owner of one of the few acid yellow V6's in Germany. In the meantime there are 3 of them in Germany, as one of the members of the German forum purchased a chrashed V6 in acid yellow in the UK and took it to Germany.

And after driving some 1500 km in 8 weeks I can only tell you: WHAT A GREAT CAR THIS IS, I REALLY LOVE IT!!!

Regards,
albertine

Guten Abend,

Where was the car exported to by the previous owner? I'm fascinated where these cars turn up from Australia across to the middle east etc

Great story!! Love the passion and the fact the vee lives up to hopes and aspirations of those that always want one!! I have yet to hear someone buy one and say 'what's so special about it?' Now that is a special quality very few cars have if any!!

Aalbertine, welcome.

Great story! I am sure Acid owners in the UK will be along shortly to add their thoughts, but in the meantime do get some pictures up of your Vee.

Albertine,

I (and a few select others) share your passion for the colour, which somehow adds to the wonderful sense of occasion that Vee driving brings.

I'm glad your due diligence paid off...
...and please keep us posted with joyous stories that ownership brings.

Regards

Kett

Hi Albertine, great to read your story there. :welcome:

Did you buy your Acid Yellow v6 from Turkey? What number is it on the plaque? Would be great to know for our register, thats one of the missing ones.

Would love to see some pictures!

Gruss Gott, If you had said that you wanted one, I could have sent to in the direction of a 'Rechte Lenker' in bavaria.
Anyway,
:welcome:

Hi and thanks for the friendly welcome!

To answer some of the questions: The car went to Croatia in 2009. Croatia was not a member of the EC at that time and the owner had to pay a huge amout of taxes to get the car there. When in the end of 2012 he decided to give the car away he only advertised it in Germany.

Unfortunately, if a car has been exported more than three years ago, you have to reimport it and pay full taxes again if you bring it back into the country where it came from. But as you know, on July 1st of this year Croatia has become a member of the EC. Never before I jumped for joy for any country to become member of the EC. It made me save a couple of thousand EUROs but will cost all EC tax payers many billions of EUROs - but that's another story (and in fact I don't care). But yes, I just had to wait for this date to get that Vee back to Germany tax-free. And I am so glad I did!

Its number is 0654, its first immatriculation was in january 2006. It received a new front skirt back in 2011, as a croatian MOT guy crashed it in the workshop while it was being MOT'd (Oh, what a ...). I received all the paperwork with the car incl. all service invoices and it contains a letter from the Croatian MOT society, saying that they will take over all repair costs concerning that damage - funny. Other services and repairs: all belts incl. waterpump etc. changed back in 2011, something like almost all ignition coils changed, antenna base (rubber seal) and some minor bits.

That's it for now, I will try to upload soem pics shortly.

All the best and
my regards to all of you

Fantastic! Shame about the MOT guy's stupidity, but happy to see that the Vee is in good hands now.

Look forward to the pictures.

Enjoy.

Greetings albertine,

Hi,

exactly, that's the car...

It came with the Recaro Sportsters and we really love them - both the car and the seats.
