...have we seen a massive increase in people looking to buy recently?? Can't remember reading so many posts from newbies wanting in!!

I do agree which is great news but dare I say it having various threads with wanting to get the value of them up is only going to turn people away; this must be the first source people use who are into cars and are looking for a V6.

Just sit back and see which route the V6 takes (I think) we all know the answer whether that is now or in x amount of years. Maybe I’m wrong however and this can be looked at from a different perspective

Yea noticed his too. Lots of new club members which is fab just not enough vees to go round all 355 of them!!

I've been lurking on this forum for 5 years now and I can't recall a time where Vee's were so in demand. The shortage of cars for sale has been quite noticeable lately.

It's about that time of the year where I sell and buy a different one

mmm! speaking as someone who would like to buy one, i could not agree more. i am a patient man but if so few are for sale and owners are seeing them as investments (i want to use one, not just polish it between MOTs!) maybe it's time to forget the idea.

There r a mix of cars out there some that only get polished and some that get driven but all sorts will still becoming up for sale.

I think its a no brainer that people who own these cars want to c the values as high as possible but I also think that although people talk about pushing up values it is just that talk and people have been talking about it for years with no real effect. I think that prices r deffinatly lower than they should be given the type of car, the low numbers and the prices over the water.

I think prices will rise as cars become harder to find but this will b a natural market change based on simple supply and demand.

I was going to put a thread up for newbies to put themselves on a list cos there are quite a few on here and I am losing track of who's who!! As for owners pushing prices up thats all a load of rubbish. Simple supply and demand and as the years pass the odds of getting a low mileage mint vees decreases so prices will increase. A natural process. We did have a thread regarding vee owners for life and quite a few us on here are in for life. So no chance of getting those vees and none of us have put ours up for sale. Newbies will have to fight over whats left. There are some bargains out there especially ph1s which crop up from time to time. Personally it seems now is the best time to buy a vee as prices have seemed to have bottomed out and now seem to be increasing ever so slightly. I always wanted to get a ph1 as my second vee and the way the prices were going it seemed like it would be possible but not anymore.
For the newbies just wait for the right one to turn up. One thats been looked after and in good condition. Have a look around the ones that are out there and get a feel for them. And dont be put off ones with 40k plus miles. Plenty of info on most cars on here if a bit of background is needed so just ask. :)

I can concur with this. I was a newbie a couple of years ago and I couldn't justify 12 - 15k for a good Ph2 at the time. We got a half decent Ph1 with over 40k on the clock for just 8k. It hadn't been particularly loved by the previous owners, it had an annoying engine fault and the bodywork was a little shoddy. But two years later, a lot of elbow-grease, a respray, a retrim and a little bit more money (well quite a lot actually...) and I have a cracking motor. The smiles-per-miles factor is brilliant.

Oh and we're never gonna sell - so put me on the lifer list

I wish the V hunters out there the very best of luck and if you have the inclination, maybe take on a little restoration project like I did. Better to restore than let them go to waste I think.

Well said. The guy that snapped up a barried ph1 for £3k to bring it back to life is another great recent example.

As Nas says, the fewer the number of cars in circulation in the UK (crashed, exported, owned for life) the higher the prices will go. No-ones kidding themselves we're all going to be sitting on £20k+ cars anytime soon, but ph1 prices have certainly nudged upwards since I bought in in 2009.

Perhaps because it's winter or maybe we're just in a freak lull period, but, as I said, I can't remember a time with so many buyers and so few cars available!

Your thread needs updated mate! Must almost be finished it now?

Definitely 'supply & demand'.

I originally bought my 255 Vee for some uncompromising track work - then realised I wanted to keep it for life.

I decided to get myself a R26-R for thrashing instead. I figured it was only 'a regular RS Megane with plastic windows, scaffolding, great seats and some general niceties stripped out'.

Renaultsport didn't sell these in droves and I don't think I've seen one for less than £14k. Demand out-stripping supply.

Without being disrespectful - a Vee is far more special/iconic than a trick Megane will ever be. Which is why a bought a second one.

IMO: When Vee values have superseded R26R values the equilibrium will have been restored. That means R26R's going down or
Vees going up.

Not that I give a toss... : )

At least then you can add on the mods and upgrades you want as you go along.

Do you still have the R26R?

Always imagined them driving like a bigger clio trophy.

I think its a combination of the prices dropping and the people who have always wanted one but couldnt afford one, now being a bit older, they can afford to buy one and insure it.

Ive noticed this with the Nissan 350z forum im on. Over the last 6 months theres been no end of newbies join looking to buy one, as they have noticed really early import versions can be picked up for around the £5k mark, compared to the £12->£14k the newer (more powerful) ones sell for. They dont always factor in the running costs, but in their eyes £5k is a lot of car for the money.

Whether or not the prices will start going up or not depends purely on supply & demand and that changes all the time from what ive seen.

Sorry! That should have stated 'planned' to get R26R.
I genuinely thought their values would plummet in line with other Renaultsport products. I hadn't figured on supply & demand.
Lets face it: how easy would it be to fashion a R26R from a stock Megane 225? Doesn't that make the Vee a tinsy-winsy bit more special? I'm so glad I saw the light and bought a second Vee!

Ah ok. Given the choice i'd have one of each personally.

Would love one, just can't get away with all the stickers etc.
