Idling issues

Alright guys, literally in the last stages of getting my regy on the road, but I can't sort out this idling issue, even when I turn the bit on the carb by hand it still dosent return down the revs as fast as it should :( I've rebuilt the carb all new everything's,

The cars been off the road for about 2 years, and in that time it's had a Fmic fitted, but all the pipe work and hoses are secure, but it was working fine, I'm not sure if I've plumbed a vac pipe in the wrong way or what, but I really need to sort it :(

The carb has a spring on the back of it. That is connected to the throttle cable. The spring sometimes looses it tension and this often prevents it from returning back to the correct idle speed.

Checked that dude, it's like it's "inside the engine" and friend thinks it my be a vac leak? And with the sun out today I could see what looked like "exhaust" cumming out the engine bay? Any chance a lose inlet/exhausts gasket could be doing it?

It's hard to tell, on start up it puffs a big bellow of a smoke, and smokes a bit, u can smell exhaust quite strong tho, but I think it's the water pump/alt belt that cause a bit of a breez so it's hard to tell,

I've taken the carb of looking for a boost leak erlia so it shouldn't be to bad I don't think,

I changed the exhaust manifold gasket on the weekend, and found that allot of the studs and nuts we're lose or missing also the gasket was tatty at best... I noticed I was missing 1 nut of my exhaust manifold to turbo and 1 nut missing from turbo to exhaust down pipe, it seems to have fixed the rev problem tho

I think that some of the problem might be from a tyerd rev gauge tho, as the needle is getting stuck at about 1500k down to about 800 but not sure till I change that for something different

Just to ask, is it only the spring on the carb that returns the cable? My throttle pedal dosent seem to return? Not sure if it's missing another return spring ?

Thanks

Alright kiddas.. Sorry to dredge up old problems..

Still get readings of 10 or below on my afr on idle.. The mixture screw is new and not snapped, idle jet is clean with a new seal..

I've rebuilt the carb.. Not sure if it's a spring or summing I've missed..

Driving me mental Tho :(
