idle problems help please?!?!?!

D

dnlfrn

started messin about a few days ago then seemed to sort its self out!!
but today it started again.... its idling hign one minute 1100-1200rpm then sometimes it"ll be on the verge of stalling at about 500rpm!!
if you blip the throttle it sorts it out for a bit but sure enough a few moments later it starts messin around again!!!
doesnt matter if its cold or if ive just stopped after a run!!

i might try cleaning the idle control valve tomorrow if it isnt that
has anyone got any ideas? has anyone else had the same problem?

thanks for any help guys.

Yup, I'm with Matt on this, try the IACV. I do what Sibley advised and sprayed a stack of wd40 in it then shook the hell out of it to get as much of the wd40 back out again, Worked a treat.

I believe it was 3 10mm bolts to remove the IACV

Ah, but yours is a phase 2. Different valve. Rotary type....ph3 uses a stepper type.
Still, take it off, split it in 2 (remove the 2 screws) and clean it with brake cleaner then WD.
If that dont work, find a new one.....theyre used on LOADS of Renault stuff around that age.

oh right i see now, i did take it off and sprayed wd40 all inside it then blew it all out with an air line loads of black crap came out!!

it does seem a bit better but it aint great!!!

im gonna try again tomorrow as i wasnt to sure whether to split it (undo the two screws) and whether to use brake cleaner?!? didnt know whether there might be any rubber seals in side that brake cleaner may damage?!

I look at it this way....if there is, and it does, it was fvcked anyway so it dont matter :yup:

i use gallons of brake cleaner

use it to clean virtually anything - never had any problems

- even for its proper use, inside hubs etc there are the wheel cylinder rubber protective caps - so i've always assumed its fine - like everything ...... in moderation.

Could be lots of things, TPS, leak in the ISCV hoses, loose jubille clip, even the casings of the ISCVs can leak.
