How to tell if the vee has been chipped

This may sound daft but this is an unusual circumstance. You see I bought my Vee at an auction and never spoke to the original owner. He has put a aftermarket airbox on it i think its a piperX evo. Sounds Wicked.. It has the standard exhaust but I want to know if its chipped or re-maped. Im off to the ring next month and I would like to get the exhaust and a chip. But I dont want to spend the money to realise its been done already. Is there something I can look at to tell. Ie would they put a sticker on the ECU?. Hope this all doesnt sound to daft. Thanks Lee

Hmmm interesting question cause my car feels different to others with a very snappy throttle response, and I always wondered if it had been chipped by the first owner. He was a wealthy owner who had been used to Ferarris and Porsches before the Vee and had been told by his dad to get something less ostentatious [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Then after only a few months of ownership he sold it on.

look very carefully at the paintwork!!

Don't need to look that carefully on mine Mike :s

I also think another possibility on my car is the accelerator pedal sensor and throttle body actuator may be adjusted differently as the pedal seems to press down differently to others Vees and also the car seems to 'anticipate' by very small time factors what I am doing with my throttle foot. It is almost as if it gives me more throttle than I need or my foot has asked for and so is like a whippet on a leash when I transition from low to medium and medium to full throttle ... Normally this is the correct decision and I do want the extra throttle but sometimes I take my foot off and there is a lag before the throttle comes off as the car kind of feels 'dissappointed' I don't want to give it beans ...

Hard to explain in words ...

I know the Vee is 'drive by wire' (electronic throttle operation) so it could just be slight differences in the installation of the sensor and actuator more likely than ECU ... I guess also the ECU learning may have something to do with timing and therefore throttle response. I use 95 RON fuel too so it surprises me how quick the car feels ...
