What sort of history do you/have you kept, with the vee?

I've got a ring binder full of old tax discs, original bill of sale and even started keeping petrol receipts in there. Just thinking if the vee is going to be a classic will a folder full of everything help keep their values(bit like it has done with the gt trbo I guess)?

I have every tax disc except the first 2, all stamps in the book and a plastic folder full
Of receipts and mots and such like!

I get a bit anal about it all to be honest :)

Everything apart from fuel bills, I do this with all my cars.

Fuel bills would be a little upsetting if I knew how much I'd spent over the years

I think reassuring words such as 'original panel car' & 'dry stored' will be key.
Sometimes excessive documentation might overwhelm a prospective new owner...

Aside from the logbook and a few receipts i've acquired, bugger all. Original owner has kept a lot of stuff so I know it's in existence (original bill of sale etc), second owner just kept it in storage and misplaced a lot of shit.

Sort of inevitable when somebody keeps it under cover in a barn for 5 years I suppose...

I keep everything in a folder (one each for every car), except fuel receipts. That way you have the stuff if a prospective buyer wants to have a look.

When I buy a car I would need to see everything, especially invoices for servicing and maintenance, and past MOT's (but the latter is now rather redundent as you can find a vehicle's MOT history here as long as you have access the V5C).

Addtionally I also fill out a V888 form and send it off to DVLA (with a £5 cheque), which can take time to come through but well worth the wait for older cars.

Lastly, you could try to get the full build spec of the vehicle from the manufacturer, and keep it on file, but unfortuantely this is not possible with Renaults! For example, for Porsches one could get a full build spec of the car (including all options) from either Porsche AG or Porsche GB.

Did this with the Audi. Typed all the codes in the service book into the online configuration and got the complet, and I mean complete, build and option specs. Fascinating reading :approve:
