Hi ...

Hi guys and gals,

I do not have a Vee just yet, but am looking. I have a quick question - I sent a private message to a member on here yesterday - how do I know if it has been delivered? It is currently sat in my 'outbox' and not moved to the 'sent items', which I assume it would have done?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Hi and welcome, I believe it sits in the outbox until the receiver opens it, but I may have got this wrong!

Good luck in your search for a car, are you looking for a ph1 or 2, where are you based?

Thanks
Dan

Thanks guys. I am based in Hertfordshire.

The outbox makes sense, thanks for clarifying.

I want a Phase 2, think I have found the one [smilie=yay.gif] so just getting things checked.

Do the clutches have a maximum life in them? How much is it to get just the clutch done?

Clutch is quite an easy job but due to the layout of the vee, it's quite a pricey job as its often a drop the engine out job. You are looking approx £800 I'm guessing, check whether it was done during the cam belt service as many owners do both at the same time :approve:

Welcome & good luck with your hunt!

The clutches will last as well as you treat them. Mines still on the original 10.5 year old clutch, im hoping to get at least another 4-5 years out of it.
On my last v6 the clutch was on the way out after 6.5 years old so i had it replaced at the same time as i did the cambelt, as the engine was already out of the car. From memory (it was about 4 years ago) the clutch kit was around the 150-300 mark.

If its just the clutch that needs doing it can be changed in exactly the same fasion as any other fwd/transverse engined car. Engine out is a myth! Pop the driveshafts, empty the 'box fluid, remove the bell housing bolts along with the flywheel trigger sensor and hey presto.... Done! Then reverse. Its a couple hours work when pissed let alone sobber!

Good luck with the search.

Well, looks like I am still looking :(

Odd situation ... found one I liked, came to a deal and was organising getting it checked out. Offered a deposit and was full steam ahead, then silence - I can only assume they have sold it elsewhere otherwise why would you not reply?

Oh we'll, will keep an eye on the classifieds. Drop me a line if you are thinking of selling.

Cheers

Prefer not to say who, but a member here unfortunately. I just do not understand why you would not just say, unless he got bored of me asking for an update :(
