Hi everyone, im the proud owner of a Mars Red phase 2 No 179!!! Looking foward to contributing to this great forum. A lot of information avaialble. Love the car but ownership has been a bit rocky so far. Its spent more time at Renault London West than my drive! Engine managment light came on a few weeks ago and Renault have said they need to order 2 Camshaft Phaser Solenoid Valves and Rails. There wasnt any issues when driving the car though. Turns out they are on back order and the parts wont arrive till mid september! Has anyone had this issue before, is it ok to drive while waiting for these parts? Its at Renault right now and theyve suggested to keep it there till mid September. Any advice? JUST WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR!!!

REALLY?! Iv never seen a Vee around this way, actually iv never spotted one until i started viewing them to buy :) Any ideas on my other query? We should have an Ealing meet, once im back on the road. [smilie=yay.gif]

hi, yes iv given him a call and explained the situation but its difficult for him to judge if the cars drivable or not over the phone. The general gist is, if its just the camshaft solenoid valves and theres not a big evident rattle then it should be ok. I think i might just collect it tomorrow, dont want to leave it there for 2 and a half months but at the same time dont want to ruin the car by driving it around in the mean time. :s

Hi mate! Congratulations you bought the best colour [smilie=yay.gif]

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate start to Vee ownership, I certainly wouldn't leave my car at Renault for that amount of time!! [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

At the very least have it trailered home again or to Scott at SG...that's if it's undriveable!

Was this the one on pistonheads just recently?

I'm in Northfields. I've had it a just under 18 months and used it very little due to home issues.
I have used it for the tesco run occassionally but it's usually used for a proper run rather than day to day in the area.

ACE cafe meet is the 3rd Monday of the month.

Concerning your problem, I'd have a gentle drive to Scott (call him first).
He's a real nice guy who knows the Vee inside out.
I think West Acton are better than most but still wouldn't trust them on any of my toys.

Hi Colin, yes this is the one that was on pistonheads a couple months ago. Everyone's recommended Scott so far but extended warranty have already agreed to cover the job with London west. I'm not sure they will cover the job if I take it from them and drive it around. (I think it's driveable :) )

Andy - I'm on Northfields too! Hopefully can make it down Ace cafe then.

Thanks for the welcome and advice so far guys!

Many vees are suffering this probkem ( I THINK)

Its on cold start the engine sounds ticky then disapears?

Scott saids its common these days, many owners unaware-

Got the cold start rattle.
Changed solenoids after 6 month wait on back order and no change..
Still drives sweet, but plan to change pulleys when the engine needs more work and has to come out.
keep her hot! :race:

Thanks for the advice. Collected it yesterday and been driving it around. Sounds fine so far. i didnt want to leave it there any longer, had trust issues with them already. Gave them a call a few weeks ago for an update on the car and they couldnt tell me anything as the technical guys there didnt know anything about the V6 and they said, and i quote ''its guess work for us on your car''. So i had to take it, not leaving it there for 2 months.

Hi Jaz

I don't know Scott from SG but he has a good reputation on here. Generally Renault main dealers can oil change a Megane but give um a vee and they are out of their depth! I use a independent Renault specialist near me (he has has a couple of vees in the past), he looks after mine fine.

Good move to take it from the dealer too -its going to be much safer with you!
