5 GT Turbo Help with my turbo please

Can anybody tell me why my turbo is smoking when the engine gets warm it's coming from the hot side around where the four bolts hold the housing on ?

Turbo poss needs a rebuild. Take elbow off the turbo and check for oil.

Hi mate so I've taken the turbo part and as you can see there is a lot of black shit underneath the turbine weld the plate that sits underneath the turbine I've cleaned it up the best I can is this a damaged turbo or just really dirty ?

The oil seal has gone on the back end. It's basically like a tiny piston ring around the shaft. You need to get it rebuilt.... I had one that did the same.

If you message them on Facebook they can advise you.. but I've just checked my Facebook Messages and their first reply was this:

• Prices start at £185+V.A.T for us to rebuild your turbocharger, which is like a service, a replacement of seals and bearings and removal of carbon build up.
• Alternatively if you have core/housing damage we can fully re-manufacture the turbocharger, this unit is £275+V.A.T.
• We can arrange for a free collection and delivery of the turbo unit and the unit comes back as good as new with a two year warranty with unlimited mileage.
• All you need to do is get it taken off and boxed securely, we take it from there.

That's the sort of money..

Hey guys so I've got my turbo off and I found my spare turbo that came with the car when I bought it now I have to get it rebuilt anyway can anybody tell me the difference between the two turbos they look exactly the same but the compressor wheel has twin blades on the spare one that came with the car and the one that was on the car had single blades if I'm going to get one rebuilt which one should I get done am I right in thinking the twin bladed one would be more efficient or am I just making that up ?

You need to compare the A/R ratings on the turbo , not which one has more blades.

Each turbo is optimised for a certain boost and engine capacity.

Left hand side turbo looks like a stock T2. The right hand side turbo is a hybrid of some description, get that one rebuilt
