Help with ABS

paulo

New Member
Hi to everyone i am having a problem with my ABS on 1998 Mk2 clio. I got it diagnosed at a garage and they said the ABS sensor had packed up. So i ordered a sensor to fit. So i found on closer inspection that the ABS ring was completely missing. I am not sure if someone previously has fitted a non abs drive shaft or the ring has broken and fallen off. How do you tell the difference between a non abs drive shaft and an abs one is there any difference. I have seen abs rings for sale it would be a much simpler job than replacing the whole drive shaft. I have a photo if this helps.

the rings just fallen off, the ring knocks onto that lip on the shaft where its still got some shiny bits, if you get another ring you have to clean that area up so its clean again and also concentric before knocking on the new ring.

only get complete shafts not cv joints.

I would just get another shaft but depending on where you go you can get rings for less than 20 quid.

theres a big triple clip thats a nightmare to do as they are tripods.

you can't get the joint separately anyway aside from the autos

circlips like vw's fords etc are dream
