Hello there

I've just joined the club as I'm thinking about getting a v6 Clio. Still gathering info at this stage, but this site is a great resource.

My budget dictates that I'll be looking for a Phase 1. Been looking at the classifieds on PH for a while, but there do not seem to be many for sale at the moment. however these two have caught my eye if anyone knows anything about either of them.

Ph1 Iceberg on PH
Ph1 Iceberg on Ebay

Thanks. Alastair

Welcome to the Forum Ali...........

I don't know the cars you've highlighted, but I'm sure someone on here with a far better knowledge will get back to you.

Good Luck and again :welcome:

Welcome!!

I know of both cars, but not got much info on them.

The one on PH is FN52 VOG LINK.

Out of the two, the one on ebay looks the most appealing to me, but worth going to see them both in the flesh if you can so you can compare. The more you can view before buying the better.

Buying a phase one at that price point is tough as a good honest one can be priced similarly to one hidding a dodgy past. Take your time, read the buying guide in our knowledge base and look very closely at the cars.

Check when the last cambelt change was undertaken on both cars, it needs doing every 5 years regardless of mileage. They should of both been changed twice, if not, add approx 1k to the advertised price to get it done.

I think this one is worth considering too LINK, advertised price includes a cambelt change.

:welcome:

Exhaust on the eBay car looks a bit bent. Also worth checking the year the cambelt was last changed as it's due every 5 years regardless of mileage.

Competitive price from a dealer though and generally looks pretty tidy. :approve:

Hi Alistair,

Welcome to the forum mate and hope you find a good one. Loads of information and helpful people on here (check out the knowledge base too for some tips of what to look for when buying)

Matt. :approve:

Thanks for the tips guys. The one on eBay is only about an hour away. Might go and look at it if its still around in a week or so just to get an idea. Good to know the time limit on the belt as well.
