Hi all, I have to do the head gasket on my 21 Turbo, its years since I did a head gasket so before I start can some one please tell me....
1: When I leave the head into be skimmed should I remove the valves?
2: Also when I remove the head bolts does the rockers lift away from the head?
3: When I remove the distributor does it only fit back in the one way or is the drive end of it on a teeth drive?
4: When lifting the head away from the block should I worry about the liners coming with the head?
5: Can anyone recommmend where I can get a good quality head gasket set please.
I had a search through old forum's but I couldn't find a discription for replacing a head gasket, so if anyone has any advice it would be great!
Thanks.

yes, that give's you the opportunity to remove the old oilseals. Re-fit them for the vaccum test and possible need a re-grind (with pasta). Bit off language barrier for me here.

Use a screwdriver in a carrefull way to relais them if they dont come lose by hand.

fit the timingbelt first if you're not sure, then the distributor. Make sure its 100% in the correct possition, seen many distributors with broken leggs.

4: When lifting the head away from the block should I worry about the liners coming with the head?
try to slide it instead off lift, then you're sure the liners are still in the correct position. If you dont want a mess inside the pistons/liners, you can drain the coolant via a plug that sits on the side from the block under the inletmanifold.
