has anyone done there own cambelt ?

I did mine, as Fred says you do require special tools.

eg Cambelt tension meter and 5x 8mm drill bits to change the belt once the engine is out.

I managed to do mine on my own and put it back in on my todd, bit of a mission but no way impossible.

going to buy the locking kit for cambelt. just looking at saving a bit of money doing it myself. any tips that may make the job that little bit easier would be aprecated

did you use the tension meter then Simon? where did you get it from? i was debating about whether it was 100% necessary or not

Is the tension meter another name for one of those torque wrenches with an angle dial and needle pointer on it ?

I would not buy the cambelt changing kit with the lock pins and stuff found 8mm drill bits did the job.

I used a Haynes tensioner and looked at the Auto Data setting for the Seem reading, borrowed it from a mate at local garage.

I had never done a belt change before and felt that if I do it step by step as the manual says cant go far wrong.
