Gear Linkage

had the same problem apart from the ball joints came off at the gear stick end, was able to get home with only 3 gears and in the wrong order, i had also pulled the cable out of its holding at the engine end and bent said holding number 5 in the diagram above, had to straighten holding and welded cable in holding never had any problems since.

There must be a way of fixing the end coupling, it sounds like the plastic cover is worn. Does it like the plastic coupling can be removed and replaced.

Maybe worth "jury rigging" it in the meantime ;)

Jury rigging??? is that meaning temperary fix?

It does look like the nylon coupling should be replaceable but it could well be bonded in, known reno i will have to buy the whole cable assembly?!?
