Front Pads

Hi all,
I think that my Vee (ph2) may need new front pads soon as they are starting to feel a bit juddery. Question is what pads should I replace them with? I believe they are currently the standard ones with standard discs.
Advice / ideas much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Steve.

A variety to chose from. Proper OE ones from Renault are hugely expensive. Some people go with cheap Mintex ones which fit well on the front (but on the rear are tiny bit big). A popular choice is to go with slightly sportier pads from EBC ... I run red stuff pads which work well and are a good compromise pad, others run more "fast road" yellow stuff pads. Can't remember what I paid from my red stuff pads, but they were pretty reasonable.

Look in the Members' Area for a discount from a brake pad supplier.

This should help

Been doing some research on brake pads, in the Renault manual its says min pad thickness is 9 mm but on the AP product info it says 2.5 mm looks like a good way of Renault fitting new brake pads well in advance of when there needed according to AP.

AP part numbers for calipers are CP6605-80S TWR and CP6605-9SO TWR

Clio front pads are the same as
Morgan Aero 8 4.4 2000 on
Noble M12 3.0
TVR, Cerbra, T350, Tuscan etc
Seat Cupra Sport (model ?)

Brake pad retaining pin and wear plate kit available from SEAT, but are AP parts, part no 6LL698295 @ around £60, but dont know what wear plates are ! Do now, they are the 4 stainless plates screwed to the caliper at each end of the pads, should not need replacing unless damaged.

REAR PADS

Mintex MDB1526

Rear pads are also for Citroen XM all models FRONT FITMENT

These retaining pins can be very rusty after a long period, I had to use a wire brush on a drill and tap them out a bit, then rotate them bit by bit and clean them all up before they would tap out though the other side of cailper, I have cleaned and painted them but there still not great, but for the cost of £1.77 each, I have brought some new ones.

You should think about these if you are looking to do the job in one go, I have read on the Cupra forum that some people have wrecked their pins getting them out.

2 sets of 4 x CP6600-109 pad pins are in stock at

I had Galfer 1065 Pads fitted to my front. No idea who supplied them to the specialist I used. I seem to recall they very quite expensive though.
