Renault Clio 1.2 1996
General: Renault Clio 1996 (Late 96/97 Facelift, 2 seat van conversion)
1.2 E-type (8v) engine, 68-70K miles approx however the clocks I put in to include a rev ounter say about 150k miles), NCT till 2013, remote c/l, manual sunroof with no leaks, immobilizer, 2 keys, stainless steel exhaust (with decent sound not loud or raspy), wind deflectors, renault mud flaps, 15" alloys with good tires, genuine spoiler, splitter up front, induction filter, good gearbox no grinding etc, resprayed white some years back, could do with a buff to bring her up to scratch.
Other bits:
Renault 19 16V Cabriolet front seats (semi bucket cloth seats), Renault 19 1.4 clocks (only difference is theres a rev counter), Renault 19 Cabriolet dash switches. Exta tweeters mounted in dash, back converted to van with extra interior lamp (from iveco turbo daily), laminate oak wooden floor (not a joke), holes and wiring for extra speakers in floor (does not come with the extra speakers or bass cannon), back windows blacked out, car was originally the earlier spec poverty model however I replaced the wings, bonnet, bumpers and rear spoiler.
Bits done for the NCT last year:
New tyres
New pads
New cylinders
2 New bearings
(oil and filter at the same time but were not essential for the test)
General:
I bought this car some years back for economy sake, when i bought it it was the poverty spec clio in blue, since then lots of various bits and bobs have been done, can provide lots of pics of the car before during and since, it's quite economical, the cabby seats are quite comfy, the van conversion is handy and surprisingly spacious for carying dogs and bags of coal and the likes. Very cool looking car too I must say and quite rust free for a 1996 clio.
Bad bits:
Think the track rods may need doing at the moment as theres a little play in the steering, under the bonnet has not been sprayed white to match the rest of the car, the paintwork is a little dull as it was never buffed after the original paint job, steering can be quite heavy due to the larger wheels I have on her but they look the part, however I can prob sell it with smaller alloys from a renault 19 but theyve not got great tyres, will prob need a new battery soon enough as this one is quite old and if laid up for more than 2 weeks wont hold charge. Currently only 2 of the alloys are resprayed white but intend to paint the other 2 before sale. Switch in dash for fogs but have not put any in the bumper yet. Will not come with head unit.
