How do you derestrict it?

Hope its not some mad gearbox in pieces project (nice if its just a wire or somat)

Ta.

By dis-connecting the amal valve I believe as that's what was done to mine...this can cause other issues though.

Hey your up late. Thought i was all alone. Working noon shift.

What others problems does this cause? cause at the mo 2nd gear pulls like sht off a shovel compared to 1st gear.

How does the amal valve limit first gear?

Doesnt the amal valve have something to do with boost?

Cheers.

Jay.

Mister chairman, we need the old forums back online!!!!

The Amal valve is an electronic bleed valve controlled by the AEI computer (ECU). It is used to set the boost to 13.2 psi, and also to restrict boost when in first gear and when engine temperature is under 50 centigrade.
It's dead clever, unfortunately too clever for it's own good as when we turn the boost up, it sometimes tries to turn it down

I Have removed mine completely, it's just a memory save for the wiring connector which just sits redundant, I use a couple of bleed valves to set my boost, one to hold it at about a bar permanently and then a super accurate one to crank it up as and when.
Just remember when the engine is cold not to cane it, then you knew that already right?
Oh, it knows you're in first gear by cross referencing engine RPM and the speed feed from the trip computer to work out the gear.

clever stuff. Yeah i never take the car above 2000rpm and stay off the boost as much as possible till the temp gets to half way.

So is i find this an just remove it, thats it? or have i got to connect wires all over the place?

Jay.

We disconect amal valve & no effects.1st gear = no turbo..What we can else?

Amal valve

If you disconnect it you have no boost control at all, and it will run 8psi all the time. You have to replace it with another bleed controller.

What can i do? I wanna turbo on 1st gear.I cant find Quadra ECU because i live in Moldavia (ex-USSR) & in our country 2 Renault 21 Turbo only.

How i can cheat the amal valve?

remove valve and put bleed valve in it's place or conecct pipes and hey presto no limiter.
p.s have fun the barsteds have a mean kick in first gear belive me i shit myself when i first got in mine
