I've left my car in a dire state over the last 6 months or so and now want to give it a good once over before I start working on it. Any recommendations on what to get the heavy dirt and dust off with. I reckon ill put huge swirls in it as it stands. I've never used snow foam but hear its bloody good.

Any help would be great.

Have a lurk on detailing world matey. Most of them make Dawn look like a local Polish car washer!! Rampaging OCD

Water ;)

Seriously if I have left anything standing for ages water it down first or if it drives local jet wash but NO brush. Then take it home for a proper clean.

Pressure wash all the crap off, then snow foam if you have the luxury of such. Then you may go over it again with a wash mit using the 2 bucket method. :)

Use iron-x and tar-dis if you have them. Rinse again.. Repeat process if required..

Rinse, and dry.

Sit in drivers seat making "broooom broooom" noises.

Done ;)
