Few laps of Good Wood - Origine RS

It's very quick, Fordwater is flat out, but I was still lifting. At close on 140mph and with a passenger and gearbox oil leak I wasn't pushing too hard...

It came and left on a transporter Ben.

Looks good.

Did you mean Fordwater or Lavant straight, which includes the left kink, which you simply straight line?

My experience, being a first timer at Goodwood, was that once you negotiate Lavant, you get on the power as soon as you straighten the car out, and are then flat out until you hit the braking zone into Woodcote. I found Fordwater was more about balancing the car through the uphill section (exiting Madgwick) and then keeping it steady on the downhill section through Fordwater, braking hard into the left hander at St. Marys, and getting on the power as soon as you hit the apex.

Fordwater. The long right after the 1st corner. the Lavant straight is flat all the way to Woodcote. It's not a hard track to get right, it's a hard track to find the extra few tenths.

At the end of the day, I was just keeping it sensible with the old man onboard.

Yep that is the one. Would have been quicker in a car with less roll/CoG - one can certainly feel the weight shift on standard suspension. As I recall, the Alpine GTA's and Spiders were particularly quick through here. I too was two up on my second and third runs.........when I was pushing harder.

Agree that it is not a hard track. IMO time can be gained on braking and getting St. Marys and Lavant spot on.

For sure! But we're all there for fun and to leave with the car in the same condition as they came in! Albeit in my case with about a litre of gearbox sprayed across the track!

Indeed! Wish I hadn't lost the clutch pedal on the last run, which was the longest I was allowed on track, and of course having to rely on the goodwill of others to get a bump start (due to a shot starter motor the night before) every time I had to go on track, mine was handicapped from the word go.

Fun nevertheless.......................and look forward to more next year.

Yeh, bizarrely my clutch went to the floor once! Backed off and it came back half a lap later. Odd, as the fluid had just been changed!

Yep, I too had the fluid flushed and replaced the day before. Felt the pedal go soft on the 3rd lap of the last stint and then lost it completely in the next one whilst coming on to the straight after Lavant. Backed off, but did not get full travel until the next lap, but went to the floor again the next time I went to change gear, at which point I eased off.

Castrol SRF has been recommended, so will give that a try next time.

I had different names for the bends. Our swear filter would have a fit if I tried. ;)
Claire was much too polite to say anything out loud... But I know she was thinking the same!
