F40 vs F50 - Simply glorious......

Watched this last night...

...fantastic piece of media.

Watch values sky-rocket now. Perhaps we need Mr H to do a decent V6 reportage...

Be quite happy to. Sure he'd break it though :approve:

Funny how alot of the characteristics in the f40 are mirrored on a smaller scale in the v6

Ffs.......why oh why arent supercars anything like this these days. Just goes to show that the "trend" of flappy paddles, semi auto, double clutch gearboxes, adjustable traction control and lots of toys is a bloody shit one.

Couldn't agree with you more Brett!

...Except the power delivery. Wish it was similar though. Would have been an even more of a challenge, and more thrilling to drive.

Exactly!! Its what I love about the vee! What you put in is what you get out!! Nothing nannying your car control or lack of and saving your ar$e!! The old school turbo lag is quality so when it's on boost boy do you know about it!! Of the modern cars I guess the Noble M600 is the closest in 650bhp mode!! I think this is where the 991 GT3 has gone wrong. Its gone away from being a drivers car where driver skill is paramount to being super quick particularly thru corners with the trick rear wheel steer. And all this track, race, road settings is just pointless. You want the car to be stable in it's character not multi-facetted. Gives a car it's character. What you see is what you get not some hormonal moody cow!! Modernity dictates people prefer 3 cars in one etc etc. Sod all that true petrolheads want purity of feel and drive. The turbos adding a bit of insanity and craziness into the mix!! Love the video Dulan. To me the F40 grows in stature and desirability with time ever since I drove alongside one on a Welsh Tour in 2010. Almost like seeing one in the flesh makes you think wow this is one iconic car and reminds how cool old school cars are.

Fantastic! What a story......and rightly linked to one of the most amazing things on 4 wheels - the Miura SV.

Passion....that is what it is all about.

Sadly, in this day and age this essential ingredient is seriously lacking.....

....and here is where modern day Ferrari's (and those made by its rivals) are heading, and this is supposed to be latest, hard-core 458 - the 458 Speciale

"The Speciale also gets a new electronic system called Side Slip Angle Control, which constantly analyses the car's angle of slip and then optimises torque management to allow the driver to pull off huge power-slides more easily." [WHAT IS THE BLOODY POINT?!]

I am sure in time to come the driver will not have to do anything, as the car will more or less drive it self, and perhaps one could then power slide the thing via a voice activated system!

As regards Porsche, here is what they used to build in 1987 (well nearly as this one has been tweaked a bit), and in its day, was the F40's nearest rival (just read the detailed listing), but the 959 was neither visually stricking nor as raw as the F40: LINK
