Engine and Brake Work

So far this summer I've managed to get a fair chunk of the engine and brake work done to the car ...

It's not completed yet. I'll do a bit more over winter when the car is off the road.

K-TEC racing fitted their excellent full exhaust system with race cats, an induction kit (which is VERY loud) and fuel remapped accordingly.

This has been pretty successful although there are currently some minor fueling problems which we hope to sort out in the spring when the car is back on the road.

I've topped this off with some specifically engineered two-piece front grooved disks, braided hoses and heavily scintered track pads.

I'll be having some rear disks engineered for over the winter.

Combined with the recent completion of the work on the seats and harnesses, it's sharpened the car nicely, without detracting from it's originality.

WELL and truly recommended!

Sounds a bit like the mods I have. I approve! :approve:

I'm interested in how the mapping goes, as I need to get mine re-done.

Hiya Peter ...

I've just got a problem with hot engine running at the moment.

If I drive it hard, then pull up, it's misfires on random cylinders - feels like you're driving on full "choke" - obviously running too rich when it's warm (temperature guage isn't too high).

It won't clear unless you let it cool for a few minutes.

It's made the car a bit unreliable when it's driven very hard.

I did a sprint circuit with it the other day - but I could only do a few laps at a time as the sit in the queue to get back out caused it to run warm and it started running on 3/4/5 cylinders.

It's just a little bit rich I think.

Can't see me getting it sorted this year - run out of money and time. Maybe in the spring when the (pampered) car comes back out on the unsalted spring roads.

Watch this space.

lets see the disks? And i'm interesred in the cats also? I've got the k-tec zorst, but could do with a little more noise!

Sorry, only a crappy picture - I forgot to take a snap before I put the wheels back on! DOH.

Note the anosdised ally hub section.

The disks themselves are fairly heavy steel - hopefully they'll provide a reasonable life with these very abrasive pads on. They certainly didn't warp on Wednesday at the sprint track day - and it was very intensive braking with no cooling down opportunity.

Going to get a pair engineered up for the rear brakes in November. [smilie=bowdown.gif]

Be very carefull if your running rich, Ive fryied my cats and it was not a good experiance. They went and managed to blow back through the exhaust port through to the inlet manifold.

I've been speaking to Ali and been doing some research chaps

2 piece discs for under £500?? anyone interested?

discs can be had from hispec at £130each + vat
and i can get the bells made up for approx £100 each

OR you can have AP discs for £200 each +vat (or even Alcon at £350 each if you're loaded!)

Those discs look real nice :)
Sorry if this is off topic, but does anyone know approximately how much the v6 engine and gearbox weighs?
Thanks
