Do I have an alarm or tracker?

I have owned my mk1 v6 for around a month now and was wondering if my one had an alarm or tracker. I understand its only the uk spec which has the trackstar but im not sure how to find out if its uk or not, its a 2002 plate, also I cant seem to set the alarm off (if it has one) as I have tried everything!! I locked myself in then opened the door but no alarm? so I tried locking with the fob then opening with the key but still no joy, I owned a 54plate 182 b4 and I could get it to go off with the above attempts. o and i have checked for a alarm fuse but cant find one. please help!!!

Try locking with the boot open, you should hear a buzing noise after about 10 seconds of arming, then after another 5 - 10 seconds the alarm should sound (works on mine!) Tracker is normally under the top dashboard panel (heated windscreen vents) this is only held on by three screws you'll find a black box or two under there.

what number is it? on the mk1's 500+ = import = no tracker fitted when it first came in the country. have a look in your documentation, if its got a tracker you should have the paperwork.

i thought they all had an alarm though?

simple way to check is leave windows down, get out and lock it, and stick your hand in front of the sensors.

The obvious tell-tales for the alarm are the ultrasonic sensors on the A-pillars!

I dont have any sensors inside the car...? im going to try leaving the bootlid open and seeing what it does. another thing I noticed was when I armed the alarm whilst sat in the car the immobiliser light started flashing (normal) but the padlock button light which is used to lock the doors when driving came on for around 20-30 seconds then went out???? is this normal as I would have thought it should have stayed on? Strange???

Ok I left the bootlid open and tried setting off again with no joy... I'm lost for ideas...

sorry mate but it sound like you dont have one, I have a ph2 and my alarm goes off all the time you cant even rattel your keys without setting it off !
