Detailing Products for Meguiars G220 Polisher

Matt

New Member
Hopefully Santa is bringing me a G220 Polisher for Christmas. Just wondering what products are going to be best to use with it please?

Thanks,

Matt.

I use 3M. They are very good products and colour coded. For example, I use a green cutting pad with the green top polish (fast cut), and then finish off with a yellow pad and yellow top polish (extra fine). Generally achieve some really good results for a numpty.

#205 Great all rounder, recommended to me by PWpro

You can see in the gallery examples of the finish you get with it as its the only polish he really uses. :approve:

I would say once you have polished the car, to protect with a very high quality product. My absolute favourites at the moment are Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid (sealant/wax hyrbid) 6 months protection, plus their new Acrylic Spritz spray.

AwesomeAwesomeAwesome products :salut:

A brilo pad and Cif matt. Works very well in my opinion. Can also be classed as colour coded when used with the ultra soft Fairy compound.

Hummm...I'm not sure i'd use 3M products with a DA...They are more Rotary suited...

For me. you need the following:

1/ Cutting pads - Lake Country or Menzerna are great.
2/ Menzerna 3.02
3/ A glaze of your choice...Suggest Clearkote Vanila Moose Glaze

Lastly (Non Machine)
4/ A sealant - I like CG Blitz as it really pops the flake
5/ A Wax...I'm a big fan of Swissvax.

Worth buying 3 and 6 inch pads and backplates, the vee is fiddly! Also Detailer to spritz the pad before and during polishing.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Ali. So I only use the polisher with the g220 and manually seal and wax? Can wax be applied with the polisher? If that makes sense...

Sorry novice in this area but looking forward to getting cleaning! :)

I would apply wax or sealant by hand.

The lake country pads are great.. Hydra Tech are the ones I'm currently using which don't absorb the polish and avoids burnishing. One thing I don't know since I use a Rotary but can you change the plate on a DA ?

If so the spot pads are ideal on the vees complex areas :approve:

Sealing/waxing should always be done by hand!

If you need any tips give us a shout, only 20 min away these days
