Debden (near Saffron Walden, Essex) sprint

Eastlmark

We are sprinting our Clio cup racer on Sunday May 10th at Debden airfield near Saffron Walden Essex, CB10 2..
Not really a spectator event but with a gate pass you can come and take a look and maybe get the bug and compete yourself at some point. The good news is a Clio v6 Trophy is entered as well as an Alpine A110 and a Alpine GTA that spits flames, a couple of other Clio's also there.
Track runs start around 9.30 and we will be there pretty much all day.

Gate pass is here:

How did you get on in the sprint Mark?

Thanks for letting us know, I would of loved to of gone, but couldn't make it.

Did you get any pictures of your cup racer in action?

well, we beat the Clio Trophy by a second and a half... I know which car I would prefer to be driving mind and it sounded fantastic.
When I say We I mean Riku, I was somewhat slower, but not trying too hard either.
Funny enough the only photo I took was the Trophy.

Good stuff! He's pretty quick your boy. I guess the trophy is too long geared for sprint work, but I bet it's still good fun. Looks nice in that photo.

Great picture! That's pretty much how I want my road car to look (with conventional colouring).

Too right about the gearing, although it gets off the line really well while we are wheel spinning, 1st gear is so long that we are in 3rd before the Trophy is even thinking about getting out of 1st. At least that is what it sounded like. Either that or the driver was pulling off the line in 2nd.
This new layout at Debden actually suited the Trophy, the last time I saw it sprint here was on the older, tighter circuit and it was well off the pace, although Donald Duncan, the owner, has had the suspension sorted since out since then. If it were not for the blended in arches it is a tidy looking car, wheels are a bit of a mess though and he has no spares.

Interesting to hear Mark, thanks for the info!

There are two places in France now that make new wheels in trophy fitment so the continentaly lot who race them have started to switch to these. But they dont look as good as cromodoras IMO.

I was offered a second set for mine in yellow (See pic) but didnt go for it. They are still sat in the corner of the chaps garage there so if i change my mind Im getting back on the ferry!!
