Not a stupid question at all - am guessing you are trying to confirm if the correct coil was replaced based on the diagnostics ?

Yeah turns out he replaced 6 instead of 1 so problem solved. Coil hadn't fully broken yet

Glad it's sorted - ironic the diagnostic indicated the cyclinder which was at fault and they replaced the wrong one then as mentioned as a possible cause earlier :ihatepcs: I do have a view that yes anyone can make mistakes but IMHO at the end of the day you pay someone else to do things for their expertise and sometimes some mistakes look quite elementary and so can make you end up being quite synical ...

Yeah he blamed his computer and said it was wrong after I showed him the picture James sent. Oh well least I can strike that garage off the list as he tried to charge me double the labour haha.

SIMPLE ANSWER FOR ANY CAR.
thers is a standard for cylinder labelling by the SAE, stood at the front facing the car number one is the cyl nearest to the front right side of the car engine front pulley end, uk o/s, subsequent numbers then left to right until you move one row back from the pulley. so a front engined rwd v6 will be 1 -2 first row 3 -4 second then 5 -6 back row, fwd four like ford reno etc, number one is right side or o/s, obvious then so how does this tie in when looking at james' picture. do renault not follow this standard?
