Cruise Control not the european standard?

Hi guys!

i haven't introduced myself yet and i'm sorry for that, i will do this later today...right after i got my full membership ;)
Short story:
My name is Frank, i'm from Germany and a proud v6 255 owner since Friday last week :D

I recognized something strange on the hunt for my perfect vee:
There are several early 255 v6's without cruise control around! And so is mine!
I haven't read anything about this anywhere on the net...so i thought it would be time to ask some specialists in this forum.
So can this be confirmed by somebody?
Those vees that are missing the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel are also missing the button next to the speedo-brightness-wheel.
And it seems like all of them are having plaque numbers around 0-200.

Italy, no.210

Netherlands, no. 109

Germany, no. 181

Spain, no. 16x

And the most important question:
Is it possible to upgrade those vees by only getting the steering wheel? (airbag + buttons)?

Hello.

I can offer some basic information I have available.

A typical spec sheet for a UK VIN number car

When selecting a steering wheel on the parts database, you are asked to choose cruise control or not.
A lower dashboard switch blanking plug is also listed for non cruise control cars.

I've also looked up various non UK cars using their VIN number and they all show cruise control listed.

A question for Renault customer services to help you with I guess.

PS.

When selecting wiring loom you are requested left or right hand steering, no mention of with or without cruise control.

I would guess the loom is ready to accept cruise switches.

And typically with the Bosch ECU cruise control (and many other settings and features) can activated by altering some of the 'adaption' settings in the ECU but you need the correct software and cable, it might not simply be a question of adding the steering wheel and switches ... I can do all this stuff on my Audi which has the same ECU ...

Very interesting thread - I thought all Phase 2's had cruise control as standard......so, given that I have a very early UK car (UK #002, built September 2003, with cruise control), were any Phase 2's officially imported into the UK without this feature? I guess this is one for Graeme (GPH).

For me it seems like all UK v6's were delivered with cruise control.
Also the ones for France or Germany were equipped with it. I guess no.181 in germany is an import!
So maybe only the early ones that went to spain or italy didn't have it by default?

Thanks James for your fast answer...would it be possible to sent you the VIN of my v6 via pm and you take a look on it?

Same like me...i always thought all of them had cruise control...but now that i own one without i digged the web and found a couple of interesting pictures.
Glad that i found something you guys didn't knew already ;)

Accelerator pedal difference... mentioned in the technical manuals in our knowledge base

.. (There are two types of pedal: with or without kickdown point. These cars equipped with cruise control/speed limiter have an accelerator pedal with a point of resistance at the end of their travel (kickdown). This point of resistance makes it possible to quit the speed limiter function if the driver has to speed up)

Ah sad :(
Thought i could upgrade it with cruise control without any major part replacing...

So its true?
Cruise-Control wasn't standard in europe?

I also noticed something different.
It''s not regarding the CC though...
Theres an entry in my specs your "typical UK spec car" doesn't have:

What's this all about?

That's not my car James.
I bought a silver one...
Those "extra bits" are terrible ^^

So what about the "ADD-On Sport Pack 6"?

I have VIN numbers for some European Vees. France, Swiss, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, all of them have cruise control and no mention of Sport Pack -6 in their spec sheets

They were 103 phase 2 Vees in Germany. 28 of those are Titanium silver

I don't have any other German car VIN numbers. Only yours. :-)
