This might be worth a sticky - up to you.

I have just spoken at length with Renault UK regarding V6 coil failures.
They accept that a ‘bad batch’ of coils was produced by Bosch and fitted to the V6 range.
They acknowledge that these ‘may’ be more prone to failure.
They are very willing to replace coils that have failed on a case by case basis free of charge during the warranty period. Once outside of the warranty period, they will look ‘favourably’ upon replacing broken coils at no cost.
However and this is the important point, they have not received enough reports of V6 coil failures to warrant a recall - in fact they claimed that reports of coil fails are incrediably rare. Bearing in mind the number of reported failures on this forum, I must conclude that either Renault UK are not being truthful about the recorded failure rates or we as owners are not reporting failures.
IF A COIL BREAKS, regardless of whether it is within its warranty or not, you MUST report it to Renault UK. If we report sufficient failures, then I have been reliably informed that France Technical will authorise some form of recall and replace all coils from the ‘bad batch’ free of charge.
How many reports of failures are actually required to force a recall is unknown.
