Clio Williams Subframe

Hi guys, Am i right in thinking that the actual sub frame on all Mk1 clio's is the same size and its just the longer wish bones on the williams that gives the wider front track?

Ive got a subframe off an Rsi which is in much better condition so want to switch them over. Just thought i'd double check before going ahead.

I know it has wider track than the 16v but im pretty sure that's due to the longer wish bones and drive shafts but the actual subframe is the same width. Hmm......... mite have to do some precision measuring or get them both off and put one on top of the other to check.

williams subframe is the same as clio 16V but triple skinned or something.

Definitely not the same as the 19's

Wishbones are the same as the 19 16V/megane coupe.

So in theory i could switch the williams subframe for a Clio RSI or 16v subframe, and aslong as i use the williams wishbones the track will still be the same?

the only difference I have seen between them is the williams got the triangle plates just like the 19 16v got.

no more skins etc

I'll go for it then if there's no major difference. Don't want to change it if the williams one has more skins as the handling would probably suffer, but if they're the same and the width is the same it should be ok. Can always switch them back i suppose if there's a noticeable difference. Thanks for the info guys

the triangulation plates make it stiffer thus improve the handling. Easy to add to a lesser version if you can weld

most are split by now anyway, the radiator support is common for splits from corrosion/poor jacking
