Hi all, hoping to pickup my PH1 V6 on the weekend. Anyone else under 21 got any decent quotes?

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply just checking out the companies mentioned in that thread. Who is rich insurance? I can only find an american based company?

Cheers

I hear NFU are competitive at the moment.

However.. different companies specialise in different customers. Most folk on here are a little older than you SJR, so you may not fit their customer profile, being so youg... ya lucky git. :)

Hope all goes well with the collection of your new car!

Where abouts are you based, what number car have you found? etc etc.?

Welcome to v6clio.net!

Basically they said I have to be 25 and they patched me through to thames valley direct who then patched me through to swinton cos apparently they had a quote waiting for me and they just said they won't do it!! 30 minute call for nothing!

Hi there, didn't see your post just now. I will check out that company to see what they offer!

It's a 2002 PH1 with new tyres, battery, MOT, service and the all important cambelt change. 35k on the clock.

There's gotta be a way for a 19 year old to get insured on one reasonably!! Starting to doubt whether I should pick it up now :(

Cheers

19!!! wow, sadly your going to get hit with the stereotype that in control with such a car you are a very high risk. You will do well to find someone who will insure you, and if they do its going to cost half the price of the car!!!!

Best of luck with it though! Take care with the car and take it slowly, especially as you will be learning to drive it at the worst possible time of the year weather wise!!!!

Yea alot them don't believe I can even afford the car which is a shame really as I`ve always been a car nut and my dad has always had quite nice cars (911 Turbo, E46 M3, Twin Turbo Supras etc). I`m not really into driving around like a lunatic I just think it looks stupid especially seeing people wheelspinning through town haha! Will keep trying and if not I guess I`ll have to find something else!

Cheers for all the fast replies!

Obviously your post code will play a major part in what your premium will be.
Other folk have found that adding someone at a very low risk as a named driver to their policy like their mother or Grand mother for example, will often reduce a premium.

Clearly I wouldnt advocate such behavior. 8)

would love to see what qoutes you get at 19!! [smilie=icon_eek.gif] My cousin really tried everything to get one at 21 but just couldnt justify the insurance prices

if you put your dad on as a named driver that will nearly always lower your qoute

Best so far is around £3k. Can't justify that!

Sod that! What else have you owned? What about a 172/182, great cars.

Golf MK4 and other such basic cars and I currently drive a 106 GTi which is very good for what it is! Have also driven some of the Bimmers that have passed through the family. Not sure about the 172/182, was hoping to get something different to fwd.

if youve got this money at your age mate get yourself into oval racing...........................dont need to worry about insurance and youll have 1000 times more adrenlin rush than with a road car..................dont waste youre money mate

Just looking through some of the photos of it, looks like fun! The only problem is I need a car for the roads to get around.

Have you checked your postcode insurance rating? This coupled with car insurance can make up a large amount of the premium even before age is added in. Adding your mum and dad on the policy as named drivers, even if they aren't the first drivers helps a lot. I'm 22 and insurance is 920 a year for me that's with 2 years no claims, and living in a low risk post code - D I believe. Audi 3.2 A3 is insurance group 17 or 18 instead of a vee which is 20.
