Classic car weekly

Haven't seen it in the flesh yet, but the following statement is encouraging: LINK

"RENAULT CLIO V6 ROAD TEST - WHY THE MID-ENGINED RENAULT IS ON FAST TRACK TO CLASSIC STATUS" :approve:

Does the Mk1 not exist?

Not just saying it because I own one but I find it genuinley frustrating that its being ignored in a Classic car magazine. It's older than the Mk2!! Can't really get my head round that one. Hey ho

It is true, Mk1's are compete rubbish, which is why the Mk 2's will rise in price and status and the originals will become worthless. It has been said that they will soon cost little more than a clio 1.2.

This is when I will spring from my seat and buy a fantastic original silver car preferably No.37...

Don't fret, whilst the pics are of a ph2, the article & text is pretty universal. Just so happens the Renault press car is a ph2.

No ph1 bashing in site.

It would be nice to see some positive phase one specific press one of these days though.

Just had a read through the article - certainly makes the right noises, but I believe the Phase 1 should have featured more than it did, at least in the 'History' section.

Somebody who knows very little about the Clio V6 may completely miss the point that there was a Phase 1, and even if he/she did, they would not know how much to pay for one, or be misguided by the fact that in reality a good Phase 1 is likely to be priced between those of 'Project' and 'Useable' cars! As such, this may be a cue for Phase 1 owners to push prices up when selling their cars to sit between 'Useable' and 'Nice'...... ;)

Alternatively the article should have made clear from the outset that it was going to be about the Phase 2.

I believe the car used is the one from Renault UK's Heritage Collection (#313).

PS: There is also an interesting news feature in the publication titled "Modern classic dangers: The cost of modern gadgets"
