Celica engined Vee?

At work today we had some guys who came in for school photographs, and as part of my 'sorting kids out' role I get them down and make sure they're appropriately dressed and respectable-ish for their photo. Was talking quite a bit to one of the guys and at the end of the day turned round and said 'can I just ask whose is the Clio V6? A teacher?'. Trying not to be smug I just brushed it off and said it was mine.

So less of the building me ego, he then was talking about his friend who is putting one back together and it had a celica engine in it when he bought it. He said he has sprayed it white with black trim and is nearly ready for the road.

Firstly, who the hell would stick a celica engine in a vee. And secondly, anyone heard of this car/story before. Unfortunately I had to get off before I could delve more into the story. The guy said his friend had an audio business of some sort, think he was called Andy...

I suppose it depends on its vintage, the more modern ones could be interesting, afterall it's what's in the Last Lotus Exiges, and fitted with a supercharger is good for around 300 Bhp.

Or it could be the new v6 fitted to the latest Exige? Whilst its a Toyota lump I'm not so sure it's fitted to the Celica, though I could be wrong

If you carry out an engine conversion then its usually a good idea to put something epic in its place. Now a gt engine is good but worthy of a swap? Not in my opinion.

The 3SGTE engine is good but a Cossie engine it would have to be, Evo at a push ...

15 years back a cossie lump would have most certainly been epic. Way too out of date now though. Evo lump would be a good call. Im not a fan of them (especially the god awfull sound) but a impreza motor on a 2wd impreza gearbox would make a very good setup.

Not heard of this one before. Perhaps its a rep? or one where the engine went kaput?
